Are grapes toxic to my dog?

What to do?

At the latest when your dog displays the first symptoms of poisoning, the veterinarian should be consulted. It is best to do this as early as possible so that treatment can begin early.
Depending on the severity of the poisoning and intolerance, the procedure differs. Often inducing vomiting is useful if ingestion of the grapes was only a few hours ago.
In addition, many doctors use activated charcoal because it binds to the fruit. After the examination, respectively treatment, the health status of the dog should nevertheless continue to be observed.
Raisins
Often the question about raisins comes up. If grapes are poisonous, can my dog eat raisins?
Unfortunately, no. Since raisins are dried grapes, the risk of poisoning increases. Some sources even speak of danger from 2.8g of raisins per kilogram of body weight. The toxic substance is said to be even more concentrated in them. The symptoms coincide.
Watch out: Poisoning by grapes can also occur in other animals. It is known through studies that cats and ferrets also show symptoms similar to those of dogs. In these species, it can also be fatal. Therefore, caution is advised.
If you are not 100% sure whether your dog can tolerate grapes, it is better to avoid them. There are plenty of tasty alternatives you can fall back on!
